Trial 3: The Trial of Leit Hahn

" Yes. It was quite a mess." she replied, agitated.

Julie looked up. " And where would the killer be coming from after escaping from the trap door? "

Julie nodded, And after that? "

Felix's eyes widened as he thought about all that had been said throughout the trial. "The first floor. Heather, where were you while we were all talking to "Leit" through the library door?"

"I went down the ladder in the auditorium to reach the kitchen. What are you suggesting? " Heather frowned at Felix.

" Yes. I went from the workshop, and then went straight to the cafeteria. But none of you were there, so I went back to sweep the stage before returning to check on all of you."

" I went to the laundry room to return the broom and dustpan, before checking the recreational room for Alex. Afterwards, I heard you in the cafeteria. " she folded her hands together. " Between Liam and yourself, Felix, don't you believe my alibi is clear? "

"It is for after we spoke to "Leit" but that's not what I'm trying to clear up. You said yourself that you weren't with us while we were all talking to Leit and the only time anyone saw you was after we finished speaking with him when you were coming from the auditorium were Liam met you on his way to the there meaning you came from there after we had all finished speaking with Leit. You could have easily been the one speaking for Leit. Just as easily as you could have attacked Devin and Alicia while you were supposedly checking the recreational room and putting things away." Felix paused for a moment. Julie, what do you think?"

Julie nodded, " Sounds reasonable."

Heather shook her head, You're going to fall for the fantasies of a delusional lawyer, who has threatened to kill us all on several occasions." she folded her hands in front of her and frowned at Felix, " Frankly, Felix, I'm disappointed in you. Did you forget that I was the one who helped you and Alicia? Why would I have done that if I had attacked her in the first place? "

Felix frowned and thought for a moment. Coming up with nothing sensible he simply said "To deflect suspicion? With the noise I was making you could hardly have ignored me."

Heather frowned, "I could have said it was sound proofed. Just like Julie did. And yet you all believe her." she brought her hands up to her neck and closed her eyes. Tears began welling up, "You'll believe that Liam found a secret room without questioning it. You'll believe that Alex was locked in a room with a stranger who suddenly vanished. You'll believe that Devin was unconscious instead of faking it. We'll even believe you, who claims to have found a trap door inside a school of all places." She swung her arms down by her side defiantly, "But a maid cleaning? That's about as ridiculous as it gets, right?" Tears began running down her face, "Murdering Leit...Someone who tried to help me yesterday...There's...no reason...and no evidence. Only a fabricated story!" She gripped the railing, "Don't...be stupid."

"There is evidence," Liam said firmly. "But nothing conclusive. It's okay, Heather," he reassured her. "We have to follow every lead we can. I still think Alex looks the most suspicious right now, but we need to be thorough."

"He...He won't believe me. My alibi...is clear..." Tears kept running down her face.

"For now, lets go back to the issue of the gates." Julie began, "If we assume that Alex is telling the truth, then there would have been an opportunity for someone to go to the third floor." She brought out the device again, "If we assume there are two of these, then it'd be likely it'd be held upstairs." She nodded, "I believe that's likely, as there was the perfect spot for it upstairs in the tech room. Wouldn't you agree, Alex or Devin?"

Devin thought for a moment before nodding. "Good place to hide it."

That's what I would have done, if this story was true. I'm very thorough." Heather responded, her eyes still red, The gate wasn't open last night."
