Ruul's ZRP Party: Thread 6.2

"We're preventing a war," Ruul said. "Not fighting one."

"We're still fighting, it's the same thing."

"Alright. If that's how you see it," Ruul said with a shrug.

The awkward silence that followed the exchange made Darem fidget a little as he walked. " I uh. Think I'll go on ahead. It'll give us a good idea if anything's there. And if I run into yer friends, it'll be even better." Darem rolled up and away from the group, heading into the swampy lands ahead.

He unrolled once he was a good distance away from the others. He began testing his footing in the area and frowned. The unevenness and how loose the ground was was very similar to the desert, but the dampness and weight of the mud made it hard to roll around freely. With each step, he sank slightly into the ground. This'll take some gettin used to. he thought as he looked around.

"A-uh?" Calcifer was taken aback by Darem's... ball-rolling... thing he did. He looked on after him as he sped past his field of vision. There was another pause. "Well..." He stuffed his book deep into his bag, shutting it. "I won't be out-paced by a rock." He tried to be a little funny as he elbowed Kairo in the ribs and started running. "If we're here to do a job, let's hurry up and do it, eh?" he called back.

"We'll wear ourselves out," Ruul warned, but he ran after them just the same.

walking in the opposite direction, a small sunset orange rodent of some sort was walking in the other direction with a small bone roughly as long as its body tied to its back with worn out string. It scurried along slowly with its bushy tail curled up behind it and its head down. It kept walking till it bumped into Darem's foot. Rubbing its head, it looked up and glared at the towering mass above it.

Darem looked down at the creature, "Oh, am I in your way, little one?" He picked up his foot and moved it to the side. He knelt down to look at the rodent a little closer, sinking deeper into the ground as he did, "Never seen nothin' like you before."

"You guys are such kids," Kairo said as he ran after Ruul and Calcifer.

the rodent backed up and twitched its nose. It tilted its head and then scurried over to Darem's other foot. It tapped his toe twice with its tiny hands inquisitively

"Hmmm? What's wrong?" Darem lowered his hand down to the ground.

The rodent back away from the hand before going towards it slowly. It tapped Darem's larged fingers and paused before looking back up at the boulder like creature in front of it

"It's okay. I don't bite." He smiled, "I won't hurtcha."

The rodent looked down and rubbed its hands over its head. It started to turn to the right and collapsed on its right arm. It started to pull itself up to try and move again

Darem used his hands to scoop the creature up, "Bone too heavy for ya?" He started looking at the thing's legs and arms, checking to see if they were injured.

Calcifer was best at sprinting short distances, not running long ones. He managed to catch up to Darem, though, red-faced and panting. He stumbled into the change of terrain, a bit surprised at the marshy ground. "Oh, fuck, what's--" His question was cut off as he lost his balance and fell, the sinking, almost soupy earth splashing up against his body and matting in his hair. A tiny bit got in his mouth. He spat, disgusted.

Darem turned towards the man, sinking into the mud. "Woah. Woah Woah. Calm down." Darem kept creature in his left hand and put the hammer in between his arm and his torso. He reached out to Calcifer, "Need a hand?"

the squirrely creature flailed in Darem's hand. On closer inspection it had a wound on its arm, but it could have been worse. It stopped flailing to look at the second person whose face made contact with the ground.

"I'm fine," Calcifer huffed between spats. "I just fell is all." He stated to pick himself up, attempting to nicely decline the Goron's hand. He stumbled a little more gracefully again, on his third try standing up naturally. He didn't notice the little creature yet, brushing himself off, a look of dissatisfaction stuck on his face.

Darem shrugged and brought his hand back to the rodent. He patted its head carefully and looked over at Calcifer, "Ya wouldn't happen to have anything like bandages in your bag, wouldja?"

"Only a bit left, why?" He rummaged through his bag. "Lemme wipe my hands off," he muttered, soiling a few cloths that were probably some clothes he needed to clean anyways. He shook out a thinning roll of bandages and held them out. "Yeah, here, why?" he asked again, just before catching sight of the little mouse. He stepped forward, shadowing over the Goron, craning over to get a better look. He blinked.

Kairo skidded on the mud as he approached Calcifer and Darem, barely managing to stay on his feet. "Whatcha looking at?" he asked.

the squirrel extended its nose out towards calcifer and sniffed curiously. It sat up with its head tilting to the side.

Darem reached out for the bandages and nodded in appreciation. He put the end of the roll in between his teeth and pulled on the roll with his free hand. "This girl 'urt 'er paw." He explained between clenched teeth. He sat the creature on his shoulder and tore off a just a little of the bandage, before wrapping it around her paw. "Theeeere we go. Not too shabby considerin' I did most of it wi-" he stopped when he saw Calcifer staring at it, and took a step back. He obstructed Cal's view by covering the creature with his hands, protectively, "No. This one's not fer eatin'."

"What? No," he laughed at the suggestion. "It's curious, isn't it?"
