Komm Susser Tod
In this evening's radiant light
One could ponder o'er the sight
In this day the sun doth shine
But will fall away into the horizon line,
And as it does I will sit and wait
As the children play beside the gate
They will grow O' so fast,
But their years here will not last,
In their youth they will happily play,
And though the time here shall pass,
They will remember when they were lad and lass,
When the time has come to claim as old,
Stories to their youth shall be told,
Then they shall reminiscence their old ways,
And think back to the good ol' days,
But will their minds remain the same,
Or will they become so hard to tame,
O' alas their day will come,
The day of sorrow for them and some,
They will not be here anymore,
Some might say, They have opened heaven's door,
As I await here in my bed,
I gaze out into the flower bed,
There I see it's withered head,
And then I realize that just like I, it will soon be dead,
O' come sweet death anoint me so,
I notice now, it is my time to go,
I can not make it pass this sickly stage,
Thus I pray, they will pass this age.
